The Cambridge Scientist’s development of mice embryonic cells could lead to an understanding of how humans develop.
There is hope knowing these early stages could lead to the prevention of developmental disorders.
Sadly, the current stage of the research is limited. Currently, the development of these embryos only extends to around 13 days.
There are negative side effects that could occur if scientists are eventually able to create an embryo from blastocyst to a full organism. The negative side effect would be the search for perfection.
I have questions and worry about some genetic engineers. There are some who seek to create a perfect organism. I worry about those scientists tampering around with laboratory-created fetuses. I worry they could attempt to create the perfect human being.
I know this sounds a bit wacky. This notion likely sounds like something out of a B –grade science fiction movie or a Saturday morning cartoon.
However, a scientist may be tempted to perform such a feat. He or she may view an artificially created human being as the next stage in human evolution.
I question this because the results of human perfection will be only available to the superrich. Only they will be able to have a baby created in a lab or have an early stage natural fetus develop in a way that would allow for the creation of a superman or a superwoman. The age of the Ubermensch may really be upon us.
The imperfection of humanity is what allows those who are not born with wealth to move up the echelons of power.
If you allow for the superrich to genetically perfect their offspring in the womb, the poor will have not chance to improve themselves.
I know there will be those who will insist this is simply natural progress. This is my take on it, however.
